I am originally from Boston and lived on Nantucket Island and in London before settling in San Diego in 2008. Growing up, my father founded a successful company importing printing ink from Japan. He taught me a lot about managing a business. Unfortunately, he invested all of his retirement assets in antiques. When it came time for his retirement the antiques had not appreciated in value and he was so emotionally attached to them that he had a hard time selling anything. Retirement was very challenging financially for him, when with a little preparing for his financial future, he could have lived comfortably. That’s what drove me to this career.
